C-ISAM [Informix Software Inc]

C-ISAM is a B-tree access method that lets programmers to create,manipulate, and retrieve data from indexed files. C-ISAM maintainsseparate operating system files to store the data and index records. Theprogrammer's view of this physical storage, however, is one C-ISAMindexed file, where records are added, deleted, updated, and read.C-ISAM files grow dynamically and re-use all space left by deletedrecords. Advanced C-ISAM features supply automatic or manual record-level locking, searches by full or partial keys, and index valuecompression to suppress trailing blanks and duplicate values.
